The Little Mermaid; In The Works

Construction process documentation of my Puppet adaptation of Han Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid. This adaptation is set in a 1930s bolero club with singing fish. This new version of an old tale emphasizes heartbreak and rebirth. Our ‘little mermaid’ is the club’s star, a lonely fish with legs who recounts their tragic love story over the course of the evening. The song ‘Lagrimas Negras’ was a huge inspiration to the conception of this show, and is therefore the musical and storytelling focal point.
